Spring 2010. Three of us embarked on a 2-week offshore passage from Newport, RI to Ft.Lauderdale, FL aboard Sete Mares, a custom designed 60-ft. cruising catamaran built by Yapluka.. We experienced it all; 15-ft seas, blinding rain, broken gear; interspersed with beautiful days, steady winds, and spectacular sunsets (and sunrises).  Averaged 180 nautical miles per day.

A personal “highlight” was crossing the path of an unseen freighter at 3 am in a blinding rainstorm while alone on watch. (Now what are those right-of-way rules??!)
